Physical Therapy Services
The expertise of our PTs benefits students by addressing areas such as:
- Gross Motor Skills
Evaluating and providing therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, strength, coordination and motor planning abilities. - Positioning and Postural Control
Recommending appropriate positioning devices, equipment and strategies to facilitate functional sitting, standing and mobility. - Mobility and Gait Training
Assessing needs and providing instruction on proper ambulation techniques, use of assistive devices, and wheelchair operation. - Braces, Splints and Orthotics
Consulting on the need for orthotic devices and training staff/families on their appropriate use and maintenance. - Transfers and Safe Student Handling
Training teams on proper body mechanics and techniques for safely transferring students between surfaces and locations. - Accessibility and Environmental Modifications
Evaluating facilities and advocating for appropriate structural accommodations to ensure accessibility and safety. - Consultation and Collaboration
Our PTs collaborate closely with teachers, families, nurses and other providers to develop comprehensive plans tailored to each student’s needs.
Eligibility for PT Services
Students qualify for school-based PT services if they demonstrate significant gross motor deficits or safety needs in the educational setting, regardless of eligibility category.
