Linn Benton Lincoln ESD’s occupational therapists provide critical support to help students develop and maintain the skills necessary for full participation in educational activities and environments.

Occupational Therapy Services

The role of our school-based occupational therapists is to evaluate students’ needs and provide services, accommodations and adaptive strategies related to:

  • Fine Motor Skills
Development of dexterity, coordination and skills needed for writing, cutting, buttoning and more.
  • Visual Motor Integration
Enhancing eye-hand coordination for tasks like copying, reading comprehension and spatial awareness.
  • Sensory Processing
Addressing difficulties processing sensory input that impacts behavior, attention and learning.
  • Self-Care Skills
Building independence with skills like feeding, dressing, grooming and overall self-advocacy.
  • Positioning and Mobility
Recommending positioning devices, adapted equipment and mobility aids to facilitate functional mobility.
  • Environmental Modifications
Assessing needs and advocating for modifications to the classroom setup, materials and learning tools.
  • Consultation and Collaboration
Our OTs work closely with classroom teachers, families and other providers – modeling strategies, interpreting medical information, and developing collaborative plans.

Eligibility for OT Services

Students qualify for OT support if they demonstrate significant fine motor, sensory processing or functional skill deficits compared to peers that impact educational performance. This applies to all eligibility categories.

By addressing underlying needs, our school-based occupational therapy services help remove barriers and empower students to fully access their educational programs and achieve their highest potential.
