Linn Benton Lincoln ESD’s team of behavior consultants partners with districts to support students experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges that impede their ability to succeed in school environments. Our specialists provide comprehensive assessments, intervention planning, training, and consultation services.
Requesting Services
Most schools attempt building-level strategies and teams (CARE, SAT, etc.) before referring a student for behavior consulting. However, a referral may be appropriate if a student exhibits issues such as:
- Inability to sustain focus/effort
- Frequent disruptions or non-compliance
- Peer relationship conflicts
- Threatening, withdrawn or fearful behaviors
- Other concerns impacting the learning environment
Students do not need to be eligible for special education services, though districts may prioritize those with IEPs/504 plans.
Comprehensive Assessment Process
Upon referral, our consultants conduct an in-depth assessment which may include:
- Functional behavior assessments
- Classroom observations
- Student/parent/staff interviews
- Educational record reviews
- Safety risk evaluations
Personalized Intervention Planning
Assessment findings guide the development of tailored intervention strategies, such as:
- Behavior intervention plans
- Individual/group counseling
- Skill training sessions (coping, social, etc.)
- Connecting families to community services
Our consultants collaborate with school teams and families to create and implement plans that proactively address the function of behaviors within the student’s unique context.
Additional Support Services
Linn Benton Lincoln ESD’s behavior consultants also provide:
