Morning Session – 8:30-11:30am (Catered lunch provided)

INTRODUCTION TO NEW TEACHER MENTOR ACADEMY

  • For anyone who mentors or supports the growth of new teachers
  • Gives participants the chance to connect in-person before the yearlong, virtual New Teacher Mentor Academy begins
  • Time to explore materials and resources used throughout the year

Afternoon Session – 12:30-3:30pm (Arrive at 11:30am to enjoy a catered lunch)

REGIONAL MENTORING TEAMS: CONNECTING, COLLABORATING, AND CREATING

  • For mentor leaders, mentors, and others who support new teachers
  • Designed for district teams to connect and collaborate around the challenges and successes with their unique programs. We will have the opportunity to imagine the journey we would like our novice teachers to experience at the beginning of their careers, assess our district supports, and share ideas to strengthen mentoring across the region.

New Teacher Mentor Academy Yearlong Virtual Course

5:00-6:30pm each month

  • Participants will receive a stipend per session (amount TBD)
  • Option to earn 6 graduate credits from Corban University
  • Sessions alternate between a community of practice where participants learn about new tools and resources, while also engaging with other mentors around their problems of practice and Educators Thriving sessions, which provide participants with the research, strategies, and resources to proactively support the social and emotional well-being of new teachers, with the goal of moving them from barely surviving to thriving. Additional options will be available for those who completed year one of the Academy and are ready for higher levels of collaboration with peers and a deeper dive into mentoring practice.

New Teacher Mentor Academy Year 1

This is a yearlong virtual course that meets monthly on Tuesday evenings from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Sessions alternate between a community of practice where participants learn about new tools and resources while also engaging with other mentors around their problems of practice and Educators Thriving sessions which provide participants with the research, strategies, and resources needed to proactively support the social and emotional well-being of new teachers with the goal of moving them from barely surviving to thriving.

Participants receive a stipend per session (amount TBD) with support through the WREN and an optional opportunity to earn 6 graduate credits from Corban University.

New Teacher Mentor Academy Year 2 and Beyond

This is a yearlong virtual course that will meet monthly on Thursday evenings from 5:00-6:30 p.m. and is designed for those who have completed at least one year of the New Teacher Academy. In addition to having time to collaborate with colleagues around problems of practice and time to plan using Mentoring in Action, participants will have an opportunity to discuss the provided book, We Got This by Cornelius Minor.

For Year 2 participants, sessions will alternate between the community of practice and Educators Thriving with 5 new sessions being offered to this group.

Participants will receive a stipend per session (amount TBD) with support through the WREN and an optional opportunity to earn 6 graduate credits from Corban University.
