With our latest updates, Synergy has introduced new name fields to enhance the functionality of Synergy. However, these fields were not included in our original implementation process. Using these new name fields incorrectly could potentially affect the accuracy of data across Synergy SE and other Third-Party Integrations.

Proper Procedure for Updating Student Names
Starting immediately, when updating a student’s name in any way, please follow these steps to ensure accurate information:

- First, copy (Demographic Name fields) or hand enter the student’s legal name into the “Protected Information” tab. This should reflect the student’s legal name as it appears on official documents and state reporting.
- If applicable, move the student’s preferred name into the “Demographic Name” field. This can be the name the student prefers to be addressed by.
- Avoid entering any information into the legal name fields at this time.
Automatic Filling of Legal Name Information
We are actively developing a process that will automatically populate the legal name fields for you. This enhancement will save you time and help ensure accuracy across all Synergy data.
Changes Effective August 28th
Starting from August 28th, we will temporarily hide both the legal name fields and the nickname fields from your screens. This measure is in place until we implement the automatic population of legal name information. This adjustment ensures that all data entered aligns with state reporting and does not interfere with Synergy SE or Third-Party Integrations.
